Selleys 401 Silicone is a one component, ready to use, acid cure silicone adhesive sealant developed for form-in-place gaskets and adhesive sealing, electrical insulating applications in manufacturing and plant maintenance.

  • Remains permanently flexible under operating temperatures from - 60C to 205C, and will tolerate short periods of 260C
  • Good resistance to most organic and inorganic chemicals, solvents and oils

How to Use

Use in a well ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

  • Surface must be clean and dry.
  • Cut cartridge, fit and cut nozzle and insert into a caulking gun.
  • For Adhesive or Gasketing Use

    • Apply adhesive/sealant using caulking gun to one surface and mate the surfaces before skin forms.
    • Minimum adhesive thickness should be 0.2mm. Ensure some residual external air contact to enable curing.

    For Joint Sealing Use

    • Mask adjacent surfaces.
    • Apply sealant using caulking gun and tool immediately, forcing sealant into the joint.
    • Remove masking before sealant skins.

    Limitations:

    • Not recommended for use with petrol, distillate and some other hydrocarbon solvents. These can cause softening and swelling which is undesirable in some applications.
    • Not paintable. Complete painting 7 days prior to applying sealant.
    • Do not use in totally confined joints where sealant is not exposed to atmospheric moisture.
    Handy Tips
    • For neater joints, mask sides before applying sealant and remove tape before sealant skins.
    • Chemical compatibility should be tested for each application under consideration
    Clean Up
    • Uncured product may be removed with mineral turps.
    • Cured product can be removed with Selleys Silicone Remover or by
      cutting and scraping.
